Balcony Bedroom
This
is our most popular bedroom, probably because it is the most spacious, being
seven by four metres. The long wall at the bottom of the twin beds is mirrored
and two of the doors open to reveal the TV, Video, DVD and CD player. By the
window, another door hides part of your wardrobe space.
The
twin beds are pushed together, but they have individual fitted sheets, because
the head and foot of the beds are electronically height adjustable.
The
goose down or 'synthetic' quilt can be large enough for a six-foot-wide bed
or you can have a pair of single ones. We can, at your request, make up the
mattresses as a super-king, but you would not be able to adjust them any more.
We have a portable ioniser and air filter for this room.
The
south-facing balcony has a pair of bench seats waiting for you if you want
to move away from the comfortable armchairs. The fitted unit near the doors
is also for guests to use, along with the drawers in the bedside cabinets,
which also have a pull out glass shelf.
From the balcony you can look over the main garden, the surrounding farmland and the set-aside field, and our wild garden across the stream.
Just below the balustrade is the kitchen decking, leading to a reclaimed brick pavement that joins to a path made from the old quarry tiles that formed the cottage flooring when we bought it in 1972. This path is beside a water feature with constantly trickling water as it takes you to York stone steps and the kitchen gate onto our track. At night this area is lit up.
