Bedroom Facilities

A wide pine door leads from the bedroom into a multipurpose cupboard.Rather than provide a wardrobe in the Kingfisher bedroom, we chose to have a storage cupboard that could also function as a walk-in wardrobe.A fridge and kettle are plugged in above the full width worktop, which is at the end of the cupboard. There is room to hang clothes on both sides of the room at differing heights, and leave enough space for wheelchair access. At the end of the Kingfisher cupboard a full width worktop supports the kettle and the fridge, which has an ice-making compartment.

Another narrow shelf runs down the left of the cupboard. Its supports carry clothes hangers at a low level. The thermostat for the underfloor heating of the wet room is on the wall. The full-length, narrow shelf on the left of the Kingfisher cupboard has support brackets that also function as holders of coat hangers, while the thermostat controls the under floor heating for the shower room.

Bedside each bed, a touch lamp gives a choice of three light levels. The bedside “touch” lamps, which are operated quite safely by touching any part of the metal work, have three levels of brightness.

At the same time, the “fire” symbol will flash on the bedside unit. This Silent Alert 3000 charger can also be used by a deaf person as an alarm clock.

The white Fantasia fans in the bedroom and sunroom have filters in the blades, an ioniser and three lights. The sun room and the kingfisher bedroom both have Fantasia fans fitted to timbers in the vaulted ceiling. We selected this particular design because we hoped that the incorporated ioniser and the blades with the built-in filters would help asthma sufferers.
